The“Discover Hangzhou:Silk Road Angel Live Streaming Season”was launched on August 17,2020 under the leadership of the Hangzhou Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area.This is one of a series of activities of the 2020 China(Hangzhou)Cross-border E-Trade Festival.Guests present at the launch event included Chen Weijing,deputy director of the Construction Leading Group Office of the Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area,Wang Peng,a senior expert in the media and content ecology operations of AliExpress,Lisa Hong,CEO of LinkJoint,and representatives from Hangzhou WOTOKOL Network Technology Co.,Ltd.,etc.,Hangzhou Chijing Network Technology Co.,Ltd.,Hangzhou LinkJoint Information Technology Co.,Ltd.,etc.

The“Discover Hangzhou:Silk Road Angel Live Streaming Season”is dedicated to helping cross-border e-commerce companies expand their sales channels and win new orders.It also aims to help overseas brands conduct online campaigns and cultivate thousands of new and popular brands.In addition,the season strives to build Hangzhou into the world's first cross-border e-commerce live-streaming city,and turn it from China’s to the world’s e-commerce capital.

This activity has two major elements,namely“exploring goods”and“exploring streamers”.As the name suggests,the former mainly helps sellers find suitable products that better meet the needs of overseas consumers and improves their market competitiveness,while the latter is committed to finding excellent,appropriate and trendy streamers on a global scale with the aim of making“live commerce”a major new trend.

Chen Weijing,in her speech at the launch ceremony,said: “Thanks to the development of the 5G information era and the influence of social media marketing,major cross-border e-commerce platforms and Multi-Channel Network(MCN)institutions have launched their own live-streaming functions one after another.Compared with domestic e-commerce webcasting,cross-border webcasting requires sellers to consider the language and cultural differences in distinct regions.People who are proficient in local languages and have a deep knowledge of their own products and local consumption habits are needed to sell products through streaming.”In domestic live commerce streaming,the hosts tend to continuously lower the product prices;however,in overseas webcasts,consumers are more concerned about the brand,quality and service of products.Domestic live-streaming,which mainly features people making small purchases,is very different from its overseas counterpart,which mainly features large-scale purchases.Therefore,understanding these essential differences will help businesses seize opportunities and thus improve their core competitiveness.
